32nd Annual Crystal Lakes Photo Contest - August 2010
Crystal Lakes has been holding photo contests as far back as 1978 when our newsletter was called the Crystal Lakes Observer, annual dues were $75 per lot, stamps were fifteen cents, and rainbow trout were selling for $1.60 a pound. A lot has changed over the years but one thing has remained the same; namely, our desire to capture the beauty of Crystal Lakes and share it with your neighbors. To that end, we are reviving a dormant Crystal Lakes tradition by holding, with some literary license, the 32nd Annual Crystal Lakes Photo Contest.
Categories:
- Wildlife (in natural settings only)
- Nature & Landscapes
- Seasons
Prizes:
- Bragging rights
- Gift certificates to The Restaurant for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place in the amount of $50, $30, and $20 for each category
- Recognition on the Crystal Lakes website and in the Wapiti Bugle
- Winning photos will also be displayed in 8x10 frames in Base Camp for everyone to admire
Rules:
- Have fun...this is a friendly contest after all. :-)
- To be eligible, photos must be submitted via email (see below) between August 1, 2010 and August 31, 2010 (by 5 p.m. Central Standard Time on August 31, 2010). An acknowledgement email will be sent within 24 hours after receiving an entry so if you do not receive a return email, your entry was NOT received and you should resend.
- Photos must be of Crystal Lakes and the surrounding area and must have been taken within the last year (September 1, 2009 to August 31, 2010) to be included in this year's contest. The idea is to capture the beauty that is Crystal Lakes and not Wyoming, other parts of Colorado, etc.
- Photos must submitted by registered property owners who can also submit photos on behalf of family members. Photos submitted by anyone other than registered property owners will not be considered for this contest.
- Property owners can submit up to six photos (all in one category or spread across the three categories).
- The preferred format for photos is "jpg" in the highest resolution available on your camera.
- Please submit one photo per email (see below) and be sure to attach your photo (instead of copying and pasting it into your email as this will degrade the quality and resolution of your photo).
- A panel of judges will convene in early September to select the three winners for each category. Judges are ineligible to participate in the contest (sorry judges).
- The winners will be announced over Labor Day weekend.
Format for Email Entries
To keep things simple and the cost to a minimum, we are accepting entries by email only. As such, we recommend you take a little extra time to ensure that your email entry will be accepted. Be sure to attach your photo (jpg preferred) to your email and then, in the body of the email, provide the following information:
- First and Last Name (Property Owner):
- Filing and Lot Number (Property Owner):
- Name of the Photo (please be creative and use as few words as possible):
- Category (Wildlife, Nature & Landscapes, or Seasons...pick one):
- Photographer's Name (Property Owner or Family Member)
- Date Photo was Taken:
Remember: Only property owners can submit photos for this contest; however, they can submit photos on behalf of family members. Also, please submit only one photo per email.
Photo Submissions
Images submitted to the Crystal Lakes website are accepted for consideration under the following terms:
1. You retain ownership of any image you contribute which is your original work. Images sent from third parties should only be by permission of the organization or individual who owns it, who also must agree to this submission policy.
2. You understand that submitted images may or may not appear on the Crystal Lakes website and its related forms of publication, now or in the future. We anticipate that each week many more images will be received than space allotted for publication.
3. By submitting any image, you are granting to Crystal Lakes the unrestricted, non-exclusive right to use it now and in the future. This includes modifying the original image dimensions, brightness, contrast, etc., retouching or removal of any visible time stamps or lettering, and adding the customary framing, watermark, etc.
4. Images used become a permanent part of the Crystal Lakes website and its product offerings (calendars, screen savers, etc.) By virtue of appearance on the web, such images also become a permanent part of search engine caching libraries (such as google.com) and online archiving organizations (such as archive.org).
5. Images not immediately used become a permanent part of the Crystal Lakes library of unpublished files, for possible future use. In some cases, contributed images may appear several years after the date they were originally received.
6. The Gallery may link to external sites, which are not necessarily endorsed by Crystal Lakes. The Gallery itself is not intended for commercial use (shopping cart sales, etc.)
7. Crystal Lakes reserves the right at its own discretion to limit or discontinue Gallery albums which appear substantially unrelated to the primary focus and purpose of this website.
8. By submitting any image, you are indicating you have read and understood this policy and agree to its terms.
If you agree to these terms, please email your photo(s) to the webmaster. The email address for this link is gofish2020@comcast.net.
If you have a question regarding this year's contest, please send an email to gofish2020@comcast.net. Good luck!
